… you know that the big Dartmouth winner at this year’s Webbies was Animoto, the super-cool website that started out as ‘the end of slideshows’ but looks to be moving WAAAYYYYYY beyond that.

And if you don’t track Webbies, why not?  Do you really think stuff like Emmys and Oscars matter any more?

The Animoto blog post about the event tells the story of the award, but the hysterical video of their CFO accepting their Webbie makes for much better viewing.  He’s not a Dartmouth College alum, but he clearly seems to have picked up some Dartmouth attitude in all his time hanging out with Brad Jefferson ’98, Jason Hsiao ’98, and Stevie Clifton ’01 (among others) along the way.

If you’re still wondering about what makes Animoto so special and can’t see it from the website, try checking out the 2008 New York Times article about their creative use of cloud computing, this article on last week’s announcement of their latest $4.4 million financing round, and — if that’s not enough — their announcement yesterday posted by CNet on the latest version of their iPhone app.  This crowd is on the move.
